Transformation Story

Sanne Terpstra

From Safe in the Shadows → To Leading in Her Own Way

When Sanne first joined Leadership Landing, she wasn’t lost.

She was stuck in plain sight.

Professionally, she was capable. Intelligent. Trusted.
Personally, she was reflective, emotionally aware, and deeply intentional.

But there was a pattern.

She made impact from behind the scenes.
She influenced without being visible.
She shaped outcomes without taking space.

And that felt safe.

The Shadow Pattern

Leadership, to her, meant something she didn’t admire.

She had seen examples of leadership that felt rigid, dominant, ego-driven.
She didn’t want that.

So she stayed in the shadows.
Still impactful.
Still valuable.
But invisible.

And invisibility feels safe, until it doesn’t.

She knew she wanted more.
More responsibility.
More growth.
More alignment between who she was and what she did.

But she didn’t yet know how to step forward without losing herself.

The Confrontation

Leadership Landing didn’t give her a new personality.

It gave her a mirror.

The courageous conversations module hit hard.

She realized something uncomfortable:

She could fight for others.
She could mediate.
She could keep peace.

But she rarely brought herself fully into the equation.

She avoided conflict not because she lacked strength —
but because she didn’t want to disrupt harmony.

That pattern had shaped her life.

And it was limiting her.

The Deep Work

The program wasn’t about adding skills.
It was about peeling layers.

Values.
Dragons.
Convictions.
Eco-cycle.
Worthy goals.

What changed wasn’t just her behavior.

It was her self-permission.

She stopped asking:
“Do I deserve to step up?”

And started asking:
“What would happen if I allowed myself to exist fully?”

That shift is subtle.
But it changes everything.

The Leap

After the program, she didn’t just tweak her job.

She left it.

The company where she felt stuck no longer aligned with who she was becoming.

She moved into a new role.
A new environment.
A new challenge.

And this time?

She didn’t shrink.

She showed up.

She brought her full self into the room,
including vulnerability.

Especially vulnerability.

She didn’t pretend to know everything.
She didn’t posture.

She allowed herself to be seen.

And something powerful happened.

People responded.

The New Way of Leading

Sanne doesn’t lead loudly.

She leads intentionally.

She pauses before reacting.
She allows space in conversations.
She listens past the first answer.
She takes responsibility for her emotional triggers.

She doesn’t escalate when challenged.

She reflects.
Then responds.

She knows her values now.
And she makes decisions aligned with them, even when they’re uncomfortable.

That is leadership.

Tangible Results

  • She left a role where she was stuck.

  • She stepped into a new environment with more responsibility.

  • She completed a major project with strong results.

  • She strengthened her confidence.

  • She improved how she receives feedback.

  • She handles conflict with grounded courage.

  • She creates deeper connections in work and personal life.

But the real result?

Peace.

She no longer lives in silent self-doubt.

Her Dragon Today

If her dragon could speak now, it would say:

“You’re not finished yet.
But you’re on the right path.”

And that’s the difference.

Before, the dragon kept her small.
Now, it walks beside her.

Not silent.
But not controlling.

The Essence of Her Transformation

Before:
Impact from the shadows.
Avoiding visibility.
Peacekeeper without self-expression.

After:
Intentional leader.
Grounded communicator.
Visible without losing softness.

She didn’t become louder.

She became whole.

Before The Leadership Landing ...

Sanne carried everything. She took responsibility for outcomes, emotions, and harmony. She overextended herself and rarely asked what she needed.

After The Leadership Landing ...

She leads with calm strength. She names her boundaries clearly. She chooses when to engage and when to pause. She understands her values and uses them as a compass.
